Silambam   is a discipline, a way of life. It teaches people (especially impressionable children), mental discipline, focus and gives then the endurance necessary to study long hours. It regulates teenage hormones and keeps them away from harm. It will help the student to develop physical and mental endurance and stamina. They will be able to focus on developing concentration and work against fatigue. They will become disciplined and obedient. Age is no bar. People, male and female, young and old can learn Silambam. There is no age limit to start receiving instruction.

WOMEN WARRIORS

Many Women in ancient India were warriors. They were trained in warfare and responsible for the safety of the family hand household. They felt a lot safer than the modern woman. Some queens led the army out in battle and defeated invaders. Tarabai, a warrior queen and her army managed to hold off Aurangazeb for quite some time. The Maurya kings used female bodyguards as they were equally strong, trained and talented, less likely to consume alcohol and more loyal. Women served as frontline soldiers and reserve troops.
